I am proud to be a featured speaker at multiple events as part of the White House Summit on Working Families.
On May 12th, I served on a panel of business leaders exploring private-sector solutions for working families- how businesses can play a part in helping employees balance work and family.
The headliners at this event were Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to the President, Thomas Perez, Secretary of the US Department of Labor, US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and NYC Mayor Bill DiBlasio. Panelists included yours truly, executives from L’Oreal and Shake Shack, small business owners, four US Representatives, NYS and NYC government officials, and public advocates for working families. I posted a photo gallery of the event here, and my reflection on the day here.
On June 9th, I was a featured panelist at a special White House Summit on Working Fathers- the first event of its kind to focus specifically on fathers (and it was at the White House!). The headliners were the White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, Labor Secretary Thomas Perez, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors Jason Furman, and NY Mets’ Daniel Murphy (of paternity leave fame). Panelists included yours truly, executives from several progressive companies, academics Brad Harrington and Scott Coltrane, writers Brigid Schulte and Liza Mundy, and many experts and advocates. My reaction here and photo essay here.
Finally, the main event was Monday, June 23rd in DC. The Obamas and Bidens were the headliners- plus a host of CEOs, government officials, experts, and even some celebrities all spoke. Here is a report of my favorite moments and of one particular anecdote that encouraged me. Further analysis is coming soon.
